Short Cuts 3: A Box of Tricks - Another Girl/The Little Wula/A Dog Hotel/A is for Arsenic archiveA celebration of female playwriting, Short Cuts 3 features four new one act plays from four female playwrights: Eliza Power (Feathers, Aingeal), Nia Jones, Lexy Howe (Sweatbox) and Marny Godden (The Grandees). All dark, all comic, and all down right weird. The concept for our third festival is simple: each writer has to produce a short dark comedy, making use of the one same, basic prop - an innocuous cardboard box. What or who is inside it? You'll have to come and see for yourselves. Another Girl - Bryan and Joanna are blissfully in love...until she tries to kill him that is. Bewildered, Bryan has to make an important phone call, his only chance to fix things - and her - before it's too late. The Little Wula - It's the 1950s and the little Do is busy delivering those pesky twigs, when clobber guts, a blind bully, beguiles him into the sewer ... But the leaping lizards are close! What's little do gonna do? Doooo! All he wants is a friend and all he needs is to get home again... A Dog Hotel - There is an unexpected reunion for old school friends Carly and Glenna. Their surprise trip down Memory Lane rouses much more than just nostalgia for days gone by. A is for Arsenic - Love ? it's written in the tea leaves. Or is it? One thing's for sure, there's definitely something in the water.
