Details

A nostalgic and tender look back at life in the North East over the last century. The stories of three generations unfold in a backyard in Jarrow, where songs are sung and tales are told; bombs fall and oranges grow; where the great issues of the day - football, unemployment, politics and football - are argued over, where a small boy learns everything about life which really matters, from the ancient craft of making netty paper from newspaper to HomeGuard drill with a broomstick; where Reuben the toad is lost and found, and where, beyond the yard walls, lions and buffaloes roam the plains of Tyneside.
