That Night Follows Day is based on a text by Etchells, and catalogues the many ways in which a child’s world is determined and controlled by that of the adults in their lives. With great clarity and humour it seeks to examine the systems of parenthood, upbringing, discipline, care and welfare that define our children and adolescents’ worlds. As is so often the case in his work, Tim Etchells continues to seek to turn the spotlight on the actual situation we find ourselves in, including the expectations and the problems of the performance presentation itself.
