In the face of terminal illness, Anna and Carl leave Baltimore, grab their backpacks and set off around a Europe only previously imagined from Hollywood movies. Carl speaks six languages; Anna has to grapple with French, German, Dutch and Italian as she samples the local cultures - and the local men.
