The Blessing Way - A Letter to England - A New British Plays Double Bill archiveWhen the masters are mad, what shall the servants do? Commemorating the 150th anniversary of India's first War of Independence ('The Indian Mutiny”', The Blessing Way thrusts an innocent Indian ayah into London - the heart of the Empire's treasure house, only to discover that beneath the bejewelled ceiling there is filth on the floor. Infected by Victorian London's sickness, she plans to reap vengeance upon the land of the sahibs... The world premieres of two powerful new British political plays examining alienation and social unrest in our nation’s capital -set during the onset of India’s first War of Independence in 1857, and amidst the contemporary housing crisis – and a chance to see the first fruits of the work of the Finborough Theatre’s exciting new literary department
