Set in Ditching Village, near Oxford, in 1648. It is apparently a peaceful and law-abiding village, remote from the turmoil of Royalist and Puritan quarrels. The advent of a parliamentary witch finder reveals a brew of spite, superstition, frustration and greed. Luckily, there is also love, loyalty and common sense.
