Every year millions headed off to holiday camps - wooden hutted Utopias where knobbly knees were guaranteed a prize, bathing beauties wore knitted swimsuits and it really mattered if you won the Donkey Derby. Erpingham runs his camp with military precision, his ruthless ambition made manifest by a beflagged map plotting the expansion of his empire.
