The Fence in its Thousandth Year archiveInspired by the long distance fence under construction in the Gaza strip to separate Palestinian and Jewish communities, Howard Barkers's play explores one of the major social issues of our time. In a world of rising frontiers and illegal immigration, Barker builds a compelling and sexually provocative epic about scandal in a ruling monarchy and its subsequent downfall. Set against this sweeping tale is the intensely personal story of a blind boy who struggles to discover his true identity in a world where nothing is what it appears to be. The play contains strong language and scenes of an explicit nature.
