National service in our country ended fifty years ago. What would happen if it was brought back? The Grandfathers follows the story of a group of young people who have found themselves in the middle of a war. They have 547 days of service to complete; whether they like it or not. We watch them desperately try to find their place and to be accepted, forming a community and becoming a family.
