The Lion, The Witch and a Bag of Chips archiveThe Lion The Witch and a Bag of Chips is a love story about inmates of a mental hospital who escape their disciplined confinement through CS Lewis' metaphorical wardrobe into a harsher, murderous freedom. This charming, witty yet dark love story takes you on an emotional roller-coaster with striking humanity and delicacy' The Sunday Times. Devised by the company, all members or recent graduates of Middlesex University, this production was hailed as the most tender and affecting piece at this years National Student Drama festival. This love story handles some of the most difficult subjects in today's society but with a degree of understanding and empathy that shatters the taboos that normally surround and shroud them. Tossing between well placed comedy and moving tragedy this play has warmed the hearts of all its audiences. With mature, truthful and tactile acting it was no wonder that was awarded the judges commendation for performances at this years NSDF. However, The Lion The Witch and a Bag of Chips has gathered experience and expertise since that festival in preparation for Edinburgh. John Wright (co-founder of Trestle Theatre and Told by an Idiot) directs this new production. That such a well known and respected professional was so affected by the show as to take on this play is testament to its power. The combination of the marvellous script, touching performances and now this award winning director is one that will be hard to better.
