The Other Day archiveBilly has committed suicide. Two of his close friends were teenagers but now approaching thirty meet up again at his funeral. As they reminisce and make silly jokes as a way of getting through it, they try to work out why Billy took his own life. The chemistry between them becomes more apparent and they discover they still have a real connection and begin to question their own lives. Successful in their careers, both are lonely and not entirely happy. Is platonic love enough to offer them the depth of support they both need? A kiss, some flirting and angry passion ensues but at the end of it all, isn't the issue just that they miss Billy. The Other Day and Connected have been chosen to launch Abandon Theatre's New Writing Programme - both are 45 minutes long but will be performed interchangeably for an hour an a half. They deal with unconventional relationships and the journeys of their characters. They both tackle relationships and how these might change as a result of the impact of key life-changing occurrences, such as suicide, abuse and love. Connected and The Other Day are supported by CHILDLINE - a partnership which will raise awareness of the production and the issues prevalent. The performance on 9 September is a Gala night the proceeds of which will go to CHILDLINE, the performance time is 8:30pm. Tickets are 20.00 for this special performance available from the Box Office at The White Bear.
