The Picture of Doreen archiveMartin Craigly, disarmingly charming darling of the daytime chatshow 'Really Saying Something' is clearly NOT saying anything to the media about his relationship with Terry Smart, a working-class, stand-up comic from Rochdale, better known to the public by his comedy alter-ego, Doreen Gray. To maintain their beautiful facade they begin to sell their souls piece by piece: Martin, by announcing his engagement to teen pop goddess Harmony O'Brien, over the pages of Hello magazine; and Terry by compromising his talent to humour mainstream tastes. Aided and abetted by bizarre female characters - all played by our mysterious cross-dressing host - the pace becomes hilariously frantic as the cracks appear in the door of the celebrity closet. When Terry is visited by the ghost of his own comic creation, Doreen, he plans an outrageous surprise for Martin that evening, in front of 10 million viewers - on live television! How much longer can they avoid being talked about... or will they eventually realise that, sometimes, it's better than not being talked about. Website
