The Most Beautiful Man from the Sea
Welsh National Opera in partnership with WMC presents the first large-scale community project on the stage of Wales Millennium Centre. The Beautiful Man from the Sea
celebrates Welsh choral traditions in a magical and mysterious tale of hope, change and the power of the human spirit. Around 500 singers of all ages, recruited from the port towns of South Wales, will perform alongside members of the WNO Chorus and with the Orchestra of WNO. Commissioned by WNO, The Most Beautiful Man from the Sea
is inspired by a short story by Gabriel Garia Márquez. The music is by Richard Chew and Orlando Gough and the libretto is by Gwyneth Lewis, the Welsh poet whose bilingual inscription dominates the front of the WMC.
