The World's Greatest Show - T0104651521

The World's Greatest Show is a dance-theatre work exploring the compelling and disturbing phenomenon of 1930's dance marathons during the American depression; human endurance contests where couples danced almost non-stop for hundreds of hours competing for prize money. The longest recorded marathon lasted for 3,780 hours. Choreographed by Arthur Pita with original music by Frank Moon (composer for The Metamorphosis) and a live jazz band, The World's Greatest Show paints a dark, dreamlike picture of the desperate people embroiled in these enormously popular 'entertainments'.

A dance theatre adaptation after Hans Christian Anderson's classic story, The Little Match Girl presents a magical festive treat for all ages 4 and above. Arthur Pita's new production tells the touching tale of an impoverished young street girl's hopes and dreams, beautifully told through dance, song and original live music. A snowy stage sets the scene for an icy cold Christmas eve, where the little match girl paces the emptying streets trying to sell her matches. Cold, hungry and with just one final match flame to keep her warm, she sees a vision of her beloved grandmother. The Metamorphosis - T629079737

Franz Kafka's novella of the absurd and unexpected makes a fascinating subject for Arthur Pita's first commission for ROH2. Featuring Royal Ballet Principal Edward Watson in the central role of Gregor Samsa, a travelling salesman who awakes one morning to find himself transformed into a giant insect. Starkly designed by Simon Daw, the Linbury auditorium will be transformed, in traverse, to provide an intimate, surreal Kafka-esque experience. Gregor Samsa's unspeakable nightmare is brought to life by innovative composer Frank Moon - who will play live, an international cast of uniquely individual performers, and Pita's distinctive theatrical style.Design Simon Daw. The stage becomes a playground as they indulge the seasons. Spring, so fresh and rampant. Summer, full of exhilaration and naked revelation. Autumn, transforming and decaying. But Winter kills and only the strong survive.Performer Cody Choi. Performer Robin Dingemans. Performer Tiziana Fracchiolla. Performer Rachel Lopez de la Nieta. Performer Jason Piper.
