Details

Kudiyattam is the oldest of the still existing forms of Sanskrit theatre (a unique form of dance drama with live percussion) from India. Around 2000 years old, there are currently less than 30 trained performers. Arya Madhavan trained in Kudiyattam for a period of 8 years under the tutelage of Guru Sathi Devi of the Margi School of Theatre and Performing Arts. She will be joined by Mizhavu percussionist, Kalamandalam Ramanunni, and Kalamandalam Mohanan playing Thimila for this extraordinary, rare performance, made possible through the University of Wales Aberystwyth where Madhavan is currently studying.
