Charlotte Edmonds, former Inaugural Royal Ballet Young Choreographer, presents a brand-new work with stunning costumes and sets by Bristol based designer Eleanor Bull and a new score from LA based composer Katya Richardson. Patricia Vallis choreographs Divided We Stand, to the haunting music of Purcell, motivated by the division in our society of political views, gender and religion. Roald Dahl was born in and grew up in Cardiff, and the celebrate the centenary of this famous author, two of his hugely popular stories are coming home to Wales in ballet adaptations. Ballet Cymru has been granted permission from The Dahl Foundation to produce two works based on sections of the wonderful Roald Dahl's Revolting Rhymes, Little Red Riding Hood and The Three Little Pigs. This outstanding classical ballet was choreographed by Darius James and Amy Doughty, inspired by the internationally recognised musical scores by composer, Paul Patterson.

Following its previous sell-out success, Ballet Cymru teams up again with singer Cerys Matthews to reprise the celebrated piece TIR. Inspired by Cerys' album of Welsh Folk Music - which has become the biggest-selling Welsh language album of the past decade - choreographers Darius James and Amy Doughty have used the work to create a unique piece for the company's dancers. Cerys Matthews herself will be performing the music live on stage with the company. For the evening's second performance, Ballet Cymru have collaborated with renowned harpist and Wales-based composer Catrin Finch to create a rich new dance, performed to Catrin's first composition, Celtic Concerto. The production also toured to Italy playing to 1026 people in Trieste and 987 in Como. A ruined merchant, lost and desperate in a deep forest; an exquisite garden by a magical palace; an enchanted Beast, furious and lonely; a promise to the merchant's youngest daughter, Beauty: a perfect red rose - so the scene is set for the greatest love story ever told. In 1946 the legendary film maker Jean Cocteau added to the myth by creating the masterpiece that is La Belle et la B?te; using much of the imagery that was later copied by Disney for their film version in 1991. Now Ballet Cymru bring to life this timeless story using the company's unique blend of classical technique and storytelling. Beauty and the Beast is a critically acclaimed ballet featuring choreography by Creative Wales Award-winner Darius James, costumes by Welsh designer Steve Denton and a haunting score by composer David Westcott.
