Kathak is a South Asian classical dance style well known for its graceful movement language, dizzying spins and lighting fast footwork executed to intricate rhythm patterns. The evening also features rare traditional Kathak compositions drawn from ancient Indian philosophy, mythology, folk lore and medieval Indo-Persian literature, in a stunning display of the sweeping abstract body movement, complex rhythm patterns executed through fast paced foot stamps timed to precise mathematical cycles and exquisite and subtle emotive expression. | |
