Joe Lott studied dance from a young age at Pegasus and Oxford Contemporary Dance School, eventually winning a scholarship to study at the London Contemporary Dance School. Later, whilst taking a degree in Italian and Cinema, Lott studied Italian Cinema of the 50s and 60s at the prestigious DAMS Bologna - an experience which informs much of her work in dance and film. Lott has worked in Marketing for a number of years, as well as working as a professional dancer, movement coach and choreographer. Lott has produced two music videos for Warner Bros, for the band Foals, and directed two short dance films. Joe Lott Dance was founded in 2011 and Alpha is the company's fourth live dance work Joe Lott Dance presents a double bill including the premiere of Alpha, a piece perfumed by four dancers exploring the idea of modern masculinity. Using a whole range of dance styles they look at dating, profit margins and protein shakes. The company will also be re-mounting Tender, the piece that launched the company in 2012. Three live dancers interact with filmed dancers to weave a tapestry of passions and conflicts around hero stories set in pastoral and urban landscapes.
