Rambert Dance Company - Awakenings Tour/Cardoon Club/RainForest archiveBritain's biggest and most exciting touring dance company who often tour two programmes at a time. Dancing to a mixture of musical styles they provide enormously watchable evenings. Rambert is at the heart of British dance, and returns to Bath with its award-winning formula of imaginative, ambitious and high-quality performances. This autumn, Britain’s national contemporary dance company presents its ravishing new work, Awakenings, a theatrical rollercoaster of emotions based on true life stories and inspired by Dr Oliver Sacks’ book of the same name, made famous by the 1990 Hollywood film. Featuring a specially commissioned score, both passionate and lyrical, the Rambert dancers and orchestra draw you into this dramatic and spine-tingling new work. Two further dance works, brand new to Bath audiences, will be Cardoon Club, a sparkling and witty piece by German choreographer Henrietta Horn and RainForest, a heady celebration of the 1960s, with choreography by the late Merce Cunningham, an electronic score by David Tudor and reflective silver pillows from Andy Warhol. With twenty two of the world’s finest dancers and live music from the Rambert Orchestra adding a further dimension to each performance, the size, scale and spectacle of the Company continues to thrill and inspire.
