Negative Space - T01554927410It's a love story. It's a slapstick comedy. It's slasher, action, melodrama - and not a single word is spoken. To begin, Reckless Sleepers built a room-sized wooden frame and lined it with plasterboard. For several weeks they started smashing it up, smashing it down, then piecing together the fragments of their destruction back together. The result is this show, Negative Space. From a blank architectural canvas, something fantastical emerges. Soon different possible stories are spiralling around, hurtling towards an ending.

Negative Space - T1279237620In 2014 Reckless Sleepers started putting the pieces of Negative Space together. We built a wooden frame and lined it with plasterboard and for several weeks started smashing up, smashing down, and then piecing the fragments of our destruction into creating our new theatre project making what we now call Negative Space. A sister project to Schr?dinger we opened up this black box world turning it upside down and the wrong way round, broke all of the rules that we had spent years establishing and made something new. The stage is a blank canvas, occupied only by one chair, one man and one woman desperately setting the stage. But it grows. And it Grows. Until it becomes something so fantastical that you barely believe it's happening. It's a love story. It's a slapstick comedy. It's a slasher, an action, a melodrama and not a single word is spoken throughout. Soon all these different stories are spiralling around each other before they start smashing towards the project's conclusion and it is Intense.

The Last Supper - T186102687The Last Supper is an intimate performance for 39 people (3 sets of 13), we (the performers) eat the last words and recall the last moments of famous people throughout history. And to some of the audience we serve last meal requests from prisoners who were on death row Texas. The Last Supper is a performance piece where we invite our audience to dinner, to eat and drink with us while we speak and then eat the last words of the famous, the infamous, the not so famous, criminals, victims, heroes, heroines and stars. With real scenarios, invented scenarios, scenarios in the future, scenarios from the past, The Last Supper is part performance, part meal, made up of half remembered words and the forgotten last requests of inmates on death row. Each audience member is given a table number, their case number, their incident number. Thirteen of these are last suppers.

Schrodinger - T705163829In 1933 Erwin Schrodinger won the Nobel Prize for his contribution to quantum mechanics. He theorised a box in which a cat can exist as living and dead at the same time. In 1998 Reckless Sleepers built that box – and now, over a decade later, they are climbing back inside. In one of the company s most celebrated performance pieces the impossible is probable; truth and illusion are inseparable. Laws are made bent and then broken. It is a visually mesmerising performance that sways between question and answer, chaos and order, what we can measure and what we can t.
