Essex Playwrights Festival

Earlier in the year, budding writers from all over Essex were invited to take part in the first ever Essex Playwrights Festival, giving them the chance to have their work professionally produced and performed, and to win the £1000 prize donated by Lee Valley Park. More than 80 submissions were made, which have been reduced to a shortlist of just four. A team of professional actors and two directors from Greenwich Theatre and The Globe have developed the plays through intensive workshops. The final performances at the theatre will be adjudicated by a team of London experts from theatres, including the Royal Court, as well as television. This is your chance to come to see the best four plays performed in the main house.
