Overall:
4.00Kentish Times (11Jan01): [Paul Prescott] s book struggles in the first half to find an effective balance between pathos and humour. In the second half the script delivers more punch and better constructed scenes, bringing out the fact that everyone can relate some of the greatest popular music to some of the most banal moments of their life. [Mari Wilson] is impressive as she climbs a vocal Everest of Springfield classics. [Bob Tomson] is best known for directing Blood Brothers and this production shares that show s bustling, no-nonsense style with minimal staging and very open performances. 3
USER (11Jan01): I am a huge Dusty Springfield fan and now, having seen the show and loved it, I am also a huge Mari Wilson fan. She does Dusty unimaginable justice, singing with emotion and immense talent and impressing with her subtle understated acting. Definitely another white soul queen!!! Check her out she's a class act. Also amazing set and uplifting music from the band....if I could I would give it a 6!!! Grayce x 5
