Welcome to the Taj Mahal! Not the real one, but the authentic Indian Curry House in Cardiff. The year is 1987. Maggie Thatcher is PM, Lady Di is Queen of Hearts, Rik Astley tops the charts and inflation's through the roof. The curry house is just about getting by, in part thanks to the valiant efforts of Fat Frank, who eats there every night (and twice on Saturdays). But Ali, the proprietor, has had enough. He's tired of the late nights, casual racism and the rain. He is ready to retire to his native Bangladesh, but who should take over the restaurant: his long-term employee, Cardiff boy Rafiq, or his nephew Khan, newly arrived from Sylhet? With no love lost between these two, Ali struggles with loyalty and family obligation. Then Mr Bajar makes an appearance. The self-professed Balti King from Birmingham, with a beautiful daughter and a taste for a takeover. It looks like Ali might lose the restaurant forever. And there's a hurricane brewing, to say nothing of an unexpected romance... A feel-good musical that takes you through the kitchen door, Half 'n 'Half is a unique new production packed full of original songs by British and Asian composers, that will leave you hungry for more.
