Break a Leg! - T1070553708

A show celebrating all things theatrical. Be among the first to see it. They say all political careers end in tears. In Gyles Brandreth's case it's tears of laughter as the actor, author, One Show reporter, former MP and government whip returns with his new one-man show BREAK A LEG! - a celebration of all things theatrical. This is Brandreth unleashed on the stars he's known and the theatre stories that have made him laugh - and, occasionally, cry. Without hesitation or repetition (and just a touch of deviation), Just a Minute regular Gyles delivers a dazzling evening of wit, wisdom, high drama, low comedy, and hilarious name-dropping.

An Audience with Gyles Brandreth - T67780382

They say all political careers end in tears - in Gyles Brandreth’s case its tears of laughter as the writer, broadcaster, former MP and government whip takes us on an hilarious no-holds-barred roller-coaster ride around the corridors of power - from Westminster to the West End. With a cast-list that runs from Gordon Brown to The Queen - via Oscar Wilde, Sir John Gielgud and Fozzie Bear - this is a wonderfully witty and revealing entertainment from an award-winning raconteur with unique tales to tell from his unlikely life in the theatre, television, journalism and politics. Remembered for the colourful jumpers he wore on TV in the 1980s, his recent TV appearances include Have I Got News for You, QI, Room 101, Countdown and Celebrity Mastermind. In 2003 he was the subject of This Is Your Life. Currently he is a reporter with BBC1’s The One Show and a regular on Radio 4’s Just a Minute. Gyles Brandreth is brilliant . . . incredibly funny, wildly indiscreet. Daily Mail Not merely, like all the best after-dinner speakers, does he know how to spin a yarn - he has a touching access to the secrets of the human heart. The Times

Author, raconteur, MP, arctophile and sartorial disaster zone: at one time or another, Gyles Brandreth has been all of these things and more. From brightening up the Good Morning Britain sofa with a seemingly endless collection of crazy knitted jumpers in the 1980s, to serving as a Conservative whip in John Major's government and starring in his own award-winning musical revue in London’s West End, this man has seemingly done it all. He is a former Monopoly champion, has a couple of books under his belt and has even set the record for the longest after dinner speech three times - the second attempt lasted some twelve-and-a-half hours, just in time for breakfast! Fortunately, the broadcaster will not be attempting to set any records during An Audience With Gyles Brandreth, presented by the Ammanford And District Arts Club. And he’ll not be wearing any of his famous gaudy knits, either, since most were given away to charity when he entered politics, but you can be sure of plenty of hilarious anecdotes, satirical social commentary and interesting insights of a life filled with memorable moments at every turn.
