After the Prime Minister's announcement it would appear that, subject to continued control of the virus, venues may re-open with social distancing and limits on audiences from 17th May. "Callings is a combination of dance and theater, a representation of reality, which ultimately responds in unison with the applause of the audience." Can a salt-coated cocktail of whispers, warnings and invocations conjured with the watery wrists of ceaselessly undulating waves awaken a tempest to tame the fools that fashion the world for profit? "Callings" pays poetic homage to the sirens of the sea. Inspired by the challenge of climate change it speaks in transformational metaphors using Carpetbag Brigade's craft of acrobatic stilts. Bubbling up from the depths an uneasy truce evolves between the eternal and the forgotten - The ghost of a sea captain and the primal siren of the sea confront the sailors of commerce, seducing them into the awakening that the ocean is a living being. The sea is alive! Alive you see! Alive like you! And Alive like...
