After the Prime Minister's announcement it would appear that, subject to continued control of the virus, venues may re-open with social distancing and limits on audiences from 17th May. A group of urban explorers discover beneath tarps a machine that changed the world. Captivated, they shovel coals on the fires of the past and bring to life scenes of epic journeys. As drivers and engineers hurry back at the sound of a whistle's blast the passengers begin to dance... Urban Playground Team's Steam is a fast paced journey from the silent movies of Buster Keaton through the hijackings of the Wild West through the rooftop stunts of a James Bond chase to the heartbreak of the First World War and into the dark future of inner-city commuting where demand for space leads to the creation of a new martial art...

Production details

Each performance is followed by an open workshop in which audience members (aged 10 years or older) can try performance-parkour for themselves. Throughout the day the Elsecar Heritage Railway will be running live Steam train rides. This event takes place at The Assembly Room
