A Family Affair archiveIn a mixture of farce and fury, a nouveau riche merchant with a superbly vulgar wife and daughter evades his creditors by fraudulently declaring himself bankrupt and temporarily transferring his estate to his loyal underling. But the assistant, who has learnt well from his master's example, has other plans for the money and his future, one of which includes the merchant's supremely spoilt and incorrigible daughter. A sharp, irreverent and robust comic satire, in which everyone is corrupt, including a lawyer, a matchmaker and a couple of peasant servants and where in the end, the swindlers also get swindled.
