In post WWI London, two frustrated housewives, Lottie and Rose, decide to rent a villa in Italy for a month to escape their humdrum lives and crumbling marriages. Needing to cover the cost of their adventure, they recruit a pair of independent upper-class women, Lady Caroline Bramble and Mrs Graves, to share the experience.
