Fallen Angels archiveWhen it first opened in 1925 Fallen Angels caused a shock-horror reaction in the press because the two female characters openly admitted to having had a pre-marital affair with the same man. Julia and Jane are old friends. Both are comfortably married, both are embarking upon middle age with a little regret, and both have a secret past, in fact each of them has had an affair with dashing Frenchman Maurice some years before. Now it seems Maurice is back in town and with their husbands safely despatched to the golf course, Julia and Jane embark upon an evening of alcohol-infused anticipation as they are torn between the realities of comfortable domesticity and their passionate memories of Maurice. As tongues are loosened, it seems that friendship and rivalry aren't very far apart.

Author Noel Coward.

Noel Coward's 1920's play is given a new twist for the 1990's - the two good friends, Jane and Julie, are respectable, middle-aged women who have been irrproachable wives since their marriages many years before. Suddenly they receive word that the lover they shared before their marriages intends to visit them over a week-end when their husbands are away playing golf together. The ladies spend the day becoming increasingly nervous about the effect the encounter will have upon them, drink too much and end up falling out with each other over the ex-lover. In their resulting pique each makes the shocking revelation to the other's husband about the pre-marital affair.. And then the lover arrives!!Company Centre Stage Theatre Company.
