Paris, one dark and gloomy February morning in 1864. The celebrated composer Hector Berlioz stands in a small cemetery in Monmartre steeling himself for the grim task of transporting his wife's remains to a larger cemetery a few miles away. The macabre journey forces Hector to recall the period of his life fhirthy years ago when he first set eyes on a young actress named harriet Smithson, and his attempts to gain her attention which resulted in his Symphony Fantastique. Beased on the composer's memoirs, Idee Fixe tells the story of a man obsessed, and the extraordinary influences on what is perhaps his greates work.
