Production details

The stars are alluringly aligned in this stylised and distinctively Korean adaptation of Shakespeare's tale of the star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Oh Tae-Suk's inspiring mix of martial arts and ritualistic dance and swordplay against a backdrop of colourful bands of silk sheets, lanterns, and live music remind us of how universal this seemingly timeless tragedy is. Orally executed in Korean, Master Oh's Romeo and Juliet with nevertheless look right through such expected barriers and speak directly to its English-speaking audience. In Korean with English subtitles
