It's Halloween in Hampstead, North London. Max Villiers, a celebrity ghost writer, and his wife Harriet host an impromptu party. Eddie, a failed monk is on top form, his date Jacklyn is equally keen to enthuse, while heavily pregnant Imogen and her straight-laced husband try to keep a sense of decorum.
