Work type: Talk.

Caught Short and Grumpy - T01440140537

When Blowers is at the microphone, laughter and a touch of wickedness are never far away. He is constantly laughing at himself and tells great stories about his life and famous friends. He is a self-confessed stuffy old fart and a good deal of modern life gets up his nose. Political Correctness, 'Elf and Safety and the EU all get it in the neck. For the last half hour Blowers hands the show to the audience and does his best to answer questions on anything and everything.

Blowers - 70 Not Out! - T0486448035

Henry Blofeld, 'The Voice of Cricket', celebrates his 70th year joined by special guests from sport, entertainment and some of the many interests he has pursued throughout his colourful life - including Michael Parkinson, Christopher Martin Jenkins, Robin Fellows and more to be announced. BBC Test Match Special commentator Henry Blofeld is undoubtedly the current 'voice of cricket' and he continues to be one of the best loved characters in the game. 'Blowers', as he is affectionately known, is as famous for his musings on pigeons, planes, double decker buses, tea ladies, cakes and his catchphrase 'My dear old thing' as he is for his cricket commentary. His side splitting one man show is a quintessentially British affair in which 'Blowers' trawls through his extraordinary life. He was brought up in the idyllic Norfolk countryside amongst a vibrantly eccentric Edwardian household and later educated at Eton and Cambridge. He dropped out to pursue a brief career in finance, before beginning his chequered career in journalism and later broadcasting. To celebrate his 70th year he will be performing at a celebratory evening at the Hall. The evening will be hosted by fellow TMS colleague 'Aggers', Jonathan Agnew, and will include appearances from many friends in sport, journalism, entertainment and politics who have been a part of Henry's colourful life.
