Manveer Singh is a composer, musician and leader of Marva world music ensemble. Before becoming a professional musician Manveer was on course to qualify as a surveyor but in 1999 he was diagnosed with rare degenerative eyesight disorder, his life changed and he decided that the new path he must take is a devotion to music. He studied tabla and composition with the tabla maestro, Sarvar Sabri, at Birmingham Conservatoire for six years. Manveer's story is one of triumphant positivity overcoming adversity. Tonight Manveer will discuss his career as a musician, the intensive musical study, his deteriorating eyesight. He will also perform live with his ensemble, Marva.
