Tim Lott's novel White City Blue won the Whitbread Prize. He also wrote The Scent of Dried Roses. James Hopkin wrote of him in The Guardian: 'Lott shrewdly explores the rules of rivalry and lust that bind men together. He's good at the laddish banter and bravado, which both preserve a friendship and prevent if from reaching more intimate levels of understanding.'
