PDC was formed in 1933 and performed regularly in Grimshaw Street, until, in 1948, the Club opened up their very own intimate little theatre in a former Quaker Meeting House in Market Street West, and called it Preston Playhouse. Preston Drama Club performs six productions each season, usually commencing in September and finishing in May - one of which has been a traditional Christmas Pantomime for very nearly the past forty years. PDC is always anxious to attract new members and auditions are held for each production to which members are invited. The Playhouse boasts a friendly bar run both by and for members, and which is open to the public during performances. The theatre is also heavily used by other local groups, so Preston can boast an amateur show virtually every fortnight! The Drama Club is the senior group in the city and boasts high standards and frequent awards from local and national festivals
