7th Dec 21 :: Review: A Chorus Line Wonderful production, great cast and was brilliant from start to finish - would recommend. 5
6th Dec 21 :: Review: Les Miserables I had seen the show before in London and found it to be a spectacular, moving spectacle, a real night of musical theatre.
This updated version is so much more and so much better.
With a cast of seasoned actors plus a sprinkling of great new talent, the whole story is beautifully played and sung with enough emotion to make even a hardened audience shed a tear.
With updated scenery and lighting this is the one show not to miss. 5
6th Dec 21 :: Review: Cinderella Expect family friendly show. Misrepresented. Disgusting. 1
5th Dec 21 :: Review: Cinderella We went to see Cinderella yesterday. We were very disappointed. It was not age appropriate. The contest host who resembled a known dodgy 70's DJ was quite alarming. There was not enough interaction with the crowd, very disappointing.
The brothers were funny and entertaining. The performers were all good but I feel the story was lacking. We went to see a traditional pantomime and sadly this was not what we got. Overall it was not Cinderella it was a show and could have been a show in its own right.
5th Dec 21 :: Review: Cinderella Would like to give no stars. Children bored as didn’t understand what was going on. No real interaction with audience and 5 year olds left wondering where Cinderella was. Not a cheap day out and felt very sorry for the children 1
5th Dec 21 :: Review: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Sound system awful most of the cast spent time talking facing the back of the stage. American accents meant it was very hard to follow. Would have left at half time none the wiser about anything that was going on but meal booking was later. Don’t waste your money! 1
4th Dec 21 :: Review: Cinderella Not impressed with this show. Continuous hum of young children who were unable to follow story line. Very disappointing. 1
4th Dec 21 :: Review: Unknown T0 Very disappointed, not what I expected, found it boring. Took my grandson as I thought it would be good for the kids. Wished I had gone to a pantomine instead. 3
2nd Dec 21 :: Review: La Ronde Whenever you see a Jude Alderson production you know that Bohemia still lives in London. La Ronde is no exception. Fluid, vivid and surreal it moves easily from music to dialogue exploring themes of lo
veless attraction with glancing reference to
faith, same sex encounters and, above all patriarchy.
The setting could be anywhere the rich inhabit - from Mexico to Manhattan via Dubai with a strong emphasis on the class difference between master and servant. It was refreshing to see a production where - true to life - there is no need to tie up loose ends of a plot. The acting was excellent especially from Georgia Forde but the whole company was relaxed and assured, not to mention talented. Altogether a lovely evening with good music. 4
2nd Dec 21 :: Review: The Legend of Sleepy Hollow Sound was poor, difficult to understand what some of the actors were saying. Didn’t understand what was going on. Nearly left in interval but stayed in the hope it might become clear, it didn’t 1
24th Nov 21 :: Review: Beauty and the Beast - A Rock 'n' Roll Panto This is the best panto I have seen for a long time. The cast were multi talented - act, sing, dance and some were very good musicians too. The costumes, particularly the dame's dresses and the scenes were imaginative. The only thing that could do with more work was the red rose. The dame was very funny and there were so many bad jokes and puns I lost count. The dame also periodically lapsed into Welsh - to the confusion of Belle, the Beauty, who couldn't understand it. The cast looked as though they were enjoying themselves as much as we were. I would definitely recommend it to all ages. In these strange times it was a perfect antidote. 5
