Apollo Theatre Incident

Injuries at the Apollo Theatre

It would appear that a 3to 5 metre diameter piece of ceiling plaster fell into the auditorium during tonights show at the Nimax-owned Apollo Theatre in Shaftesbury Avenue. A number of people, possibly as many as 85, were injured, 5 seriously according to reports. The theatre can seat nearly 800 and there were over 700 in the audience ... Shaftesbury Avenue is currently closed and the emergency services are in attendance.

Our thoughts are with the injured and their families and our appreciation goes to the theatre staff and emergency services

Update 20 Dec 9:00 -  7 seriously injured and 72 injuries ....  thankfully no fatalities. Some reports of water coming from the ceiling before the collapse but a full investigation will be undertaken.

Update 20 Dec 10:10 - Encore Tickets announce that they will be refunding all last night's tickets and all forward bookings priot to 21st Dec immediately and they are awaiting statements from the National Theatre (producers) and Nimax (venue owners) on future performances. If you bought tickets through Encore expect to be emailed shortly with an update.

Update 20 Dec 11:45 - The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night currently cancelled until 4th Jan.
