The current production of Chicago will move to the Garrick theatre in early November, start date to be confirmed. Closing tonight in its current venue (Cambridge Theatre) to make way for Matilda, Chicago has been looking for a new home and has finally found one in the Garrick - currently home to Diana Rigg and Alistair McGowan in Pygmalion which closes early September.
This will be Chicago's third West End home; Kander and Ebb's 1975 musical is based on the play by Maurine Dallas Watkins (book by Fred Ebb and Bob Fosse) with music by John Kander and lyrics by Fred Ebb. The current production, which transferred from Broadway, is directed by Walter Bobbie and designed by John Lee Beatty, with choreography by Ann Reinking after the style of Bob Fosse.
And so the West End shuffle continues ;-)
