This is the second time I have been lucky enough to catch La Clique, the first being three years ago in Edinburgh. This show, in their beauitful Speigletent, is part of the Christmas in Leicester Square festivities this year - surrounded by a Christmas Market with the usual stands, bar and food outlets. A great place to hang out before the show but it closes soon after the show finishes so don't wait till then!
Your host is the always fabulous (and extremely naughty) Bernie Dieter who develops a real rapport with the audience, sings some songs and introduces the acts - her times on stage are never dull! Kelly Wolfgramm, who has a wonderful voice, provides the songs in a wide range of styles and the band area a real delight - in fact all the music is trully excellent, even the pre-show playlist, and the band are fun. The acts on any given night may vary slightly but we had a good mix of cabaret style acrobatics, juggling and stunts. For me the stand-out performer was Heather Holliday with her sword swallowing and fire eating. I have been waiting since I read Dan Mannix "Memoirs of a sword Swallower" when was about 13 to see someone swallow a light tube - it did not disappoint!
This is a genuinely feelgood, great fun, adult, naughty, exciting evening ... treat yourselves!
