What a fabulously fun night out I had at Legally Blonde last night. Loud, brash and very (very!) pink this is a show that doesn't take itself too seriously but just pushes all the right fun buttons.
Based on the original film this is the story of Elle Woods who is dumped by her ambitious boyfriend and decides to win him back by joining his world - in this case Harvard Law School (thank goodness for a rich and indulgent father!). Against all the odds, and thanks to her rather unique (in the context of a law school) skill set she triumphs, outgrows her original boyfriend, finds true happiness and gets her old sorority chum off a trumped up murder rap.
Thanks to some great songs, a committed cast, flexible set and great direction this show fair bursts off the stage - helped by two very cute acting dogs - one of whom, Rufus, stole the show and caused Lucie Jones to lose it, though fortunately the audience got the joke and were with her all the way.
I haven't seen this much energy on stage in a long time, really one not to be missed ...
