Only Fools and Horses

Only Fools and Horses was a much loved TV comedy series that ran for years and starred, amongst others, David Jason - but then if you didn't know that already you probably wouldn't go to see the show!

As with other TV show re-creations, what we (the audience) are looking for is the characters, tropes and events we remember. Here they have cleverly managed to get both Uncle Albert and Granddad into the plot along with the main characters we remember without breaking the spell of the original show. For me, the songs don't really add much but I can forgive them that as a musical may appeal more than a straight play for this audience.

A very versatile set and an enthusiastic cast bring Peckham and its characters to life and squeeze all of the comedy from the script. Characterisations are all recognisable without being slavishly overplayed and the plot itself works well, though there are a few loose ends left as the show closes ;-)
