This is an absolutely extraordinary night of theatre. I was blown away by the athleticism and expressiveness of the dance, by the technical brilliance of the projection, lighting and stage design and by the amazing storytelling.
To my shame, I have never seen the film (or the opera!) of Quadrophenia and haven't heard the album since the early 1970's but the story was easy to follow due to the expressiveness not only of the choreography but also the acting ... of course, not a word was spoken - though we do hear some Steptoe & Son!
Needless to say, the music, orchestrated from the original, is amazing with "My Generation" being particularly powerful in this version. The ensemble scenes are beautfully crafted with the war flashback and the beach battle being very powerful and moving.
In all, a stunning evening. GO!
