This is the second time I have seen this show, having been to the previews in London back in 2013, the cast recording is has been one of my favourites since the first one was released - so I guess it is no suprise to hear that I absolutely love this show. This isn't a review as I went before Press Night ;-)
Despite all this familiarity, I had forgotten just how good this show is! An excellent score, funny lyrics and genuine storyline with three dimensional characters. Makes you laugh (lots) and think. This really is an uplifting experience for those who can take it in the spirit it is intended. The moral of the show? Being nice and being helpful are excellent personal goals, even if you make stuff up to get there!
The touring version has all the enthusiasm and sparkle of the London show. The choreography is really clever and energetic and the references to other shows, from "The King and I" to "Les Mis" to "Lion King" make for some great moments.
A packed auditorium had a wonderful time ... what more can a show expect to do!
