Now that's what I call a panto! Fun, fabulous and family friendly. The story is sort of secondary to the musical numbers, the frocks and the comedy set pieces but that is what makes this a success. No time for the youngsters to get bored with lots of narrative and huge energy from Shane Richie and Peter Piper which really drives the show along. Ceri Dupree has so many changes to make but carries them all off with style, some of those headdresses are beyond spectacular! Whilst all the singing was great, Britt Lenting's voice really comes into its own in the second act, stupendous.
The jokes hit at many levels, as they should, well over the heads of some and straight to the heart of others. Lots of Eastender references of course and even a few political references keep everything current. Pyrotechnics and a fabulous end to the first act all add to the experience.
Fun, entertaining, visually exciting and fast paced ... yep, this IS what I call a panto!
