What a terrifically fascinating and entertaining play.
Set on the boat in Jaws as Robert Shaw, Roy Scheider and Richard Dreyfuss wait for days for the mechanical shark to work we get a 'behind the scenes' look at these three very different actors and the tensions that arose from their being confined in a claustrophobic and highly frustrating environment for so long. A beautiful set made lively by the excellent projected background, helped to set the scene and the direction was beautifully paced with sections of almost manic dialogue interspersed with well timed silences. The three actors were completely believable - of course Ian Shaw, who co-wrote the play, being the son of Robert Shaw, had a distinct advantage!
On getting home after the show we immediately sat and watched Jaws the film which took on a different flavour thanks to having seen the play. Some parts of the play were so very faithful to the film it was like watching it twice. Excellent
