Adapted and directed by Eline Arbo from the book by Nobel prize winning Annie Ernaux this is an amazing piece of theatrical story telling.
Five actors tell the stages of a life -each taking on one section of the story and passing it effortlessly to the next as the character grows. Cleverly lit (I noticed the significance of the upstage lights) and simply, but effectively, staged this is an engrossing show - despite its 110 minutes without an interval. Played by Deborah Findlay, Gina McKee, Tuppence Middleton, Anjli Mohindra and Harmony Rose-Bremner we are treated to some utterly committed acting with moments of laugh out loud humour to break up the, at times, paifully delivered details of a life.
One of the best pieces of theatre I have seen in a long time and one that will stay wit me for many years .... brilliant!
