Information for They Shoot Horses Don't They? at Bridge Theatre, Inner London (Play). Set in a 1930s dance hall, this highly physical ensemble production chronicles a group of disparate contestants desperate to win a dance marathon. These extreme public endurance tests were amongst America's most widely attended and controversial forms of live entertainment during the Depression years and came to symbolise a culture struggling to make sense of a world devastated by poverty and uncertainty.
