Enigma Variations is three ballets in one. The work of one of the greatest English composers, Edward Elgar, is the subject of Enigma Variations. This masterpiece brings the glittering Edwardian Golden Age thrillingly to life with its wonderful period costumes. 'Les Patineurs' evokes al the style and elegance of a winter skating party. This is a Victorian Christmas card come to life, as nostalgic as Fred and Ginger skating in Central Park. The programme concludes with 'Birthday Offering' - a timeless ballet of solos, pas de deux and ensembles. Originally created to celebrate Sadler's Wells Royal Ballet's 25th Anniversary, this is an ever-popular showpiece designed to display the talents of The Royal Ballet dancers to the full.
