Ido Gonen: What makes a summer-loving, so-called good boy from the suburbs of Tel Aviv move to London? What's it like to be a gay man in the Israeli military? What's the connection between Captain Hook, Leon Czolgosz and a tap-dancing Nazi? And how in the world does the Eurovision Song Contest fit into all of this? In his first solo cabaret show, Ido Gonen juggles some fascinating (true) stories with songs that have been meticulously chosen (and slightly doctored) in the hope of making sense of it all. Ido graduated with honours from Beit Zvi, Israel's leading performing arts school. He moved to London after finishing a two-year run in the Tel Aviv production of Mel Brooks' The Producers. Credits in London include; Leon Czolgosz in All Star Productions' Assassins (Theatro Technis); Dino Valentino in Loving Art (Landor Theatre); Vlad in Head: The Musical (Kenneth Moore Theatre); Ensemble in Me and My Girl (London Palladium) and Thoroughly Modern Millie (The Adelphi). Ido recently made his cabaret debut with The D Word's Got A Problem? (Battersea Barge) and is thrilled to be performing his first solo show at The Pheasantry.
